Description:The Countess X is an early [and possibly the best] example of Jean Rollins' xxx period. Made before he had totally abandoned style, humour and plot and beautifully shot on 35mm film. It features some of the best actors and actresses from the period. This release of "Countess X" has been restored from the original negatives in HD-quality widescreen, making this the best possible version of the film.The piano heavy jazz score courtesy of Didier William Lepauw (Lips Of Blood and The Seduction Of Amy) is excellent.The Countess X is a must for fans of Jean Rollin and those that appreciate erotic films from the seventies. Released on a very nice-looking DVD from Njuta Films in Sweden. IMDB lists this film as a ADULT / COMEDY / MYSTERY which tells me they believe there's more going on here than the many mindless porn videos that Rollin made during the 1970's & 80's. Also a check of the Njuta Films website shows that they are not a porn distribution house. They generally release collections by cult directors or films which have some unusual quality or exceptional merit worthy of this type of DVD restoration and attention. This is the only hardcore Rollin film they have included in their Jean Rollin Collection.
